The Faith N (IMO: 8618425) flies a Panamanian flag, for the convenience of her owners the General Ore Carrier Corporation III Ltd. She is one of the largest bulk carriers currently sailing. A bulk carrier is built to carry cargo such a raw ore, but can carry pretty much anything you like.
She is operated by Neu Seeschiffahrt GmbH, Hamburg, and was built by Fincantieri Cantieri Navali Italiani S.p.A. in 1990, which makes her a middle aged vessel.
Faith N has a deadweight tonnage of about 261kt, is 325 meters long, 54 meters wide and has a draught of 20.5 meters. The ship has 9 transitional bulkheads and 2 longitudinal bulkheads.
Faith N is a very big boat. The Largest ship ever built was the Norwegian "Jahre Viking" ULCC (Ultra Large Crude Carrier) now the "Knock Nevis" and is 458m long, and is currently used as a floating storage/transfer facility. The Empire State building is around 449m high. The Emma Maersk (worlds largest) container ship is 397m. Cunard's Queen Mary 2 is 345m long. The super aircraft carrier USS Enterprise is 341m long.
Faith N will be my home 'till about February next year. We call in on Holland, Brazil, China, Eastern USA, northern Australia, and occasionally other large ports.
